Just 3 monts past the one year warrenty, the unit froze up. Called in and “technition” made no effort to correct the problem. All he wanted to do was sell me a new unit. Adios Magellan!!!

This GPS device worked great for just under a year and then all of a sudden the battery wouldn’t hold a charge. I tried charging it with the USB cable and also with the cigarette lighter adapter and now it will only work for a few minutes before shutting off…not long enough for me to get to my destination. When I called the company they were very unhelpful. I didn’t have a receipt to prove ownership because it was a gift and I wasn’t given a receipt with it. I guess you all should learn from my mistake and register your product immediately…otherwise you’re out of luck when the thing craps out in less than a year.

I bought this GPS used for $69.00 and it has more features and functions than GPS’s costing 4 times as much. Thank you Amazon.

The discription was misleading and I disappionted that it does not include Canada and can not be upgraded to do so.

I was told, in error, it had text-to-speech. It didn’t. Went to Palm Beach and didn’t have a main street (state hwy) in its listings. Street was NOT new 20+ years old. It is easy to use and program – but I see, now, it is an OLD, obsolete model. Very few POIs – which I did know in advance, but don’t use that feature on a GPS. The few times I want to locate something specific I use my BB map feature that quickly pulls up what I want – and is up to the minute in accuracy.

I was simply going to return it for a refund – but they had model 1440 (used – they call it refurbished) for $20 less. It has all modern features. I have never bot used equipment – but am willing to gamble $80. I am assuming if it is defective it will show up in the 90 day return period.

I have had this product for about 15 months. Worked fine but now it only turns on briefly and shuts down. I’ve tried recharging in different cars and computers all with the same result.

    Very dissappointing.

Product not user friendly, gives misleading direction and waits till the last second to let you know when to make a turn, a potential safety hazard.

I live in DC metro area and the POI of this device is not the best with my experience so far. If you have the address it is good and works like a charm. The graphics are good and easy to get used to. This is comparably a cheaper GPS and the value is somehow good for the bucks you have spent.

love it. I will never get lost again. Better yet my wife will never head east instead of west. Not sure why she is so directionally challenged, but she really needs this lol. I will also take this with me whenever I work out of town, the size and portablility are fantastic so I can just put it in my carry on bag.

I’ve used a couple of different ones, and this one I do not like. When approaching an exit it says, “stay to the right”. Not exit road. Or, “approaching slight right”. If you’re stuck with this like I am, because it was a gift, I may re-gift this. I shouldn’t have to go to [...]

to get a hard copy before each trip. If it wasn’t for my wife in the car this would be road kill. I’ve missed a couple of exits. Best bet, zoom back to see your exits approaching. Or, just don’t buy this.

Buyer beware on this Magellan from this website. I ordered mine as an intended gift for my daughter so the box was not opened for 2 months only to find that the Magellan was dead in the water. Completely inoperative. To make matters worse Amazon took $20.00 off of the refund. Danger, Danger…do not buy this product from Amazon.

Magellan 1400 is a very versatile, easy to use and accurate product. The price is very reasonable. Battery power is not great, but if you use a charger or keep connected in the car, works well. I will recommend this product for anyone looking for a value GPS system. Screen display and sound are excellent !

I like the road mate, I really like being able to check my speed with the road mate. The red light cameras and speed van make it esential to obey the speed limit.

The Magellan RoadMate 1400 4.3-Inch Portable GPS Navigator is a decent unit for the money. It doesn’t have many bells or whistles but the one it has that works terrific for me is the traffic rerouting. The directions provided are sometimes a little less efficient than they could be. (I have checked suggested routes vs my own routes.) These suggested routes are sometimes circuitous. The audio system itself is often slow when turns are close and occasionally, when street entrances nearly abut it gets confused.

My only gripe is that I have experienced poor battery life. The unit will show full charge but then provide only 30 minutes or so of operating time.

very pleased with magellan, may not be most up to date maps, but it has always got us where we are going without extra added cost

Compared to my last GPS, this unit by far exceeds all my expectations. I highly recommend anyone that needs a GPS to consider this product.

    I paid $89 for this.

Pros: cheap, easy to use, chime sound notification, user friendly, fast reroute

Cons: I don’t think the map is updated one. Maybe one version behind. Synchronization is a bit slow.

We gave the Magellan RoadMate GPS to our son and daughter-in-law for Christmas. They traveled over 1000 miles to go the the Rose Bowl on New Year’s. They loved this GPS. They said it worked very well in downtown Hollywood. They were very impressed with the ease and features of this product.
