This device is slow on getting GPS signal when boots. But once it gets signal, it works well. It has better accuracy than magellan. The split screen is very nice feature, u can hardly miss a turn.

Search by address is not very user friendly. It asks ur street name before the City/town name.

This is a replacement unit after the original one was stolen from my vehicle.

It functions as it is supposed to. Speech information has thus far been correct and timely.

Speech is a little more clearer than the 83T version and volume can be better adjusted.

Upgrade to 2009 Maps was simple enough; and has not crashed, yet as many reviewers have stated elsewhere.

All in all I prefer this unit to other similarly sized and featured GPS units. It would be nice for it to have had bluetooth internet connectivity to provide

real time routing updates and re-routing functions.

I would gladly recommend this Sony product to others.

I bought this actually off SHOPNBC and paid more money for it as well. It’s been a great tool but when trying to upgrade the maps it was impossible. The upgrade for maps are $99.00 from Sony and not even that but there have been out of stock for a year!! Do not buy. Thank gosh i’m fixing to buy a Droid or I would be more upset.

This is the second one from Sony I am owning, the reason of choosing it is the cool “double screen” feature when I’m reaching an intersection, I used to always have a confusion of how to choose the right road after an exit from a highway but Sony GPS is great with that, it is so comprehensive.

I just still don’t like the fact that it cannot reroute the way when there is a traffic congestion information.

I hope Sony is going to update it or add the feature to it’s current firmware.

i purchased this product on soly the reputation of SONY I was surprised how fantastic it works and the ease of use. The first time i used it without the car charger I was not impressed by the way the screen goes off BUT the voice guidence is still directing you to you destination, this is good this way the battery will last longer without the display always on, but you can just touch the screen and all reapppears. I love the way you can change the screen colors a choice of 7 It also changes automatically when its night time. I believe this is a very excellent GPS by SONY. Sony reputation still going for me. Bluetooth works very well I havent tried on a long trip just short and it preformed good as expected.

the only thing with GPS’s if you have an update in your area as to roads and poi’s GPS are only updated within 18 months to 2 yrs.{mor in the 2 yr range} so if your on a trip you may experience some goofy moves or keep driving in circles keep that in mind and just use common sense.I recommend it!

WOW, this Sony is really GREAT I was not expected to see all the features especially blue tooth which is great and all the screen colors that can be added and especially the fonts can be made larger which helps show the street names much better. It’s loaded with Many,Many POI’s which I did’nt expect. I travel all over the East coast delivering cars & trucks to dealers and it does great . I also had an Mio 401 which was terrible it didn’t even have new car dealers in it had to put the address in phycially and that had a 4.3 screen

I would recommend this to any one that understands GPS’s

I bought this to replace my battery dead Tom Tom. It’s got a large screen but a small mind. It only had a male and female English voice. Boring and I couldn’t find how to add voices. It did not come with any cd or computer software. You have to go on line and hope that it downloads. There was very little information on the SONY site on how to add voices. They will sell you a map update for $100. The volume of the unit is LOW. It is very hard to hear. SONY has three volume levels (1) low that you can’t hear (2) medium that you might hear if you have nothing else on. (3) That you can barely hear if you are rude enough to listen to a cd or the radio. Very unsatisfactory. If you just interested in a plain Jane map, well that is pretty good. Good luck trying to hear the directions to your destination. It just don’t have the bells and whistles to make it yours.

I am going out of town so I will have an opportunity to put it through all it’s paces (that blue tooth stuff) I will be surprised if it works well. If it does I will be the first to let you know. Would I recommend it again? Probably not more inclined to TOM TOM. They seem to be the easiest to use with the most options for voices and volume and personalization. (When pay $166 you want it to be your own) I do.

I own NVU73T which is similar to this model except blue tooth. I got it for $85 when it was in clearance. I do not know other companies gps but I absolutely love this sony gps. Especially I love these features:

    1. Dual screen mode at the intersections. It clearly shows how many feet you are away from the turn. I bet that you will never miss any turn with this gps.

    2. Lane assist on the freeways. It clearly shows the number of lanes that go in different directions with big

    arrows.

    3. Block route option. Recently on my long trip, I ended up on a road that was closed. I blocked that road and gps calculated the new route.

    4. you can surf the map like google map with touch screen to see what is around.

    5. It learns your proffered route.

    6. It shows points of interest with big icons

Stick with Garmin – Just bought this for large screen, but that’s where it ends. HORRIBLE. Stay away.

I work overseas when I got home my wife and I was scheduled to take a trip the very next morning to her Grandfathers house for his 86 birthday. That morning right after I loaded the car I rushed to my office to grab the NAV which was still in the box. My wife is extremely impatence so I new by the time she got in the car I had to be ready to roll which was less than ten minutes. I took the nav to my car plugged it in, loaded three addresses and in less than ten minutes it was ready. We started down the highway and easily made it to all three locations. My wife and I was extremely inpressed. It is extremely accurate, the wide screen is extremely easy to read, the touch screen makes it user friendly for anyone. I gave that one to my wife she loves it and I purchased another for my truck. I Highly recommend this product.

This product for the price is excellent. The unit is user friendly. The monitor is very easy to see day and night. It is also very accurate on the directions.

This GPS navigator is easy to see and very simple to use. All functions work as promised. I used this on a recent trip in the Rocky Mountains. I was 50 miles from anywhere on old dirt roads and this GPS unit got me back to camp.

    Everything works very well

    Pros:

Clean and thin design (Japan has the best technology all the time)

Lane assistance is very helpful (When there are turns, the screen automatically turns into two to reduce confusion)

As long as the GPS is facing the sky, you get the signal pretty quickly less than 2-3 minutes

Bluetooth is a great help when driving. I voice-dial people and talk on the phone with no problem

Compared to Garmin, the overall volume is much much louder!

    Cons:

This is very easy to use, but you gotta spend more time to learn to use it than other GPS

Great product. We have been looking for a 4.3″ or bigger GPS for quite some time. We found this at AMAZON at an incredible price. We bought this in July 2009. We are very happy with the product mostly. It still has some issues with it. We were trying to find a nearby TARGET store in MISSION VIEJO, CA and the GPS was able to find some stores not really close by ( since we know there are couple of them in our neighborhood in RSM and FOOTHILL RANCH, CA). We took a road trip from SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA to SAN FRANCISCO. It was very helpful in finding POINT OF INTERESTS and was able to quickly re-route in case of missed exits. It has built in bluetooth for hands free calling, playing music from your bluetooth enabled phone. Has a memory card slot for reviewing pictures, play music. OVERALL we are very happy with the product for the price we have paid for it. GARMIN and TOMTOM don’t have an equivalent product at this price. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a reliable GPS with a 4.8″ screen.

I’d have to agree with some reviews.Takes you to through the highways and takes the longest ways. I purchased live traffic and it doesn’t do anything at all.

    Just waist of money there..

Takes waaayyy too long to reroute or, if you are moving then it takes about 2-5 minutes to calculate. Hate it.

Otherwise, it looks great, screen is big and everyone loves it, ( “ASK ME ABOUT IT” )

The installed factory maps are ancient!!!!!!!!! Should I throw in the towel for a major map defitiancy issue? Admitedly, Sony installed an old map, and now recommends the CD update to fix all the “confusing and convoluted” map issues. Yeah, but who wants to spend an extra $99.00 for some software fix that should have been installed in the first place… for a brand new, state of the art, top of the line navigation tool. But I guess that is the price of doing business today. Sell it cheap (half price) and then add some necessary “accessories” to make it work the way it was supposed to in the first place. The Sony NV-U94T GPS is a marvelous piece of (hardware) technology — but has flawed software, hence the unit seems to have been pulled from the retail shelves and blown out for under $200.00. It is your option, keep it and spend the extra cash and enjoy a great unit or fester over this glaring shortcomming and be disapointed.. I chose the former and am motoring happily along with a usable GPS with 20/20 eyes…

I don’t have much GPS experience to draw from, but the wife and I love this GPS so far. The only complaint is that it sometimes takes a while to lock on to the satellites. Other than that no complaints, but we don’t use all of it’s other features that much so I can’t really speak to those.
