Hey…you can’t put a price on not being lost! But if you had to, this is perfect blend of cheapness and functionality. It tells me where to go (sometimes the long way) but if you spend some time with it pre-trip and generally know where you are going, it works fine. I like the British woman voice as it is soothing and yet stern and makes me think about Kate Beckinsale. I really want to download the Mister T voice but as my model choice implies, it doesn’t matter enough to me to spend the money. Having a warning system when exits are approaching makes this worth every penny. Most of the time it prevents you from arguing with your spouse and running off the road.

Major Pro: I purchased this device just for fun before a vacation last year. One day into the vacation, I became extremely ill with a viral inner ear infection. Major vertigo. I have never been sicker. After a 16 hour stay in an emergency room, and two days flat on my back in a hotel, I had my wife and daughter drag me to our car. I lay in the back seat for a 500 mile ride home. I had the voice on the TomTom set to the British Jane (soothing). I had my wife tap “home,” and the directions guided her accurately. If she made a stop or ran into road construction, the TomTom quickly recalculated the route.

Cons: 1. This basic version does not speak street names, but that has not been a problem. 2. TomTom map updates are too expensive.

Note to people who complain about the TomTom suction cup mount not sticking to the windshield: Note that there is a lock and unlock position. I’ve never had the mount fall if it was turned to lock position.

The TomTom ONE 125 is a handy “little” item when traveling from point A to point B. The voices are audible and speak distinctly with full directions. If you travel a lot, buy the “Traffic” accessory. The somewhat small screen, 3.5″, is easy to see and read. I have two complaints with the ONE 125, but it’s not with the device itself, it’s the flimsy holder’s very weak suction cup. Just when you think it’s up there to stay where you want it, it loosens and drops on the transmission tunnel. I tried using the recommended ProClip for better stability, but even though it works, it gives you little choice where to mount it. The best mounting solution I’ve seen so far is using the TomTom “Bean bag” dash mount. It’s a little hokey, but it really works. DON’T BUY the ProClip mounting device unless you have a convenient and easy to see place on your dash to mount it. All in all, the ONE 125 is a great GPS for the beginning user. BN

If you want a simple to use, simple to set up, and simple to understand navigation system that will get you from point A to point B, then this is the unit for you. Both my wife and I have had one of these for three years and have had only two or three times that it did not take us to the right place.

My job moves me around a lot, so we live in a different city or town every two or three years. Not only is this thing invaluable in new places where we don’t know the area, but also helps us when we visit family in other states.

Maybe I haven’t gotten on the TomTom website enough lately, but having a free map update would be helpful. The “points of interest” are hit and miss. We just usually look up an address on my iPhone or the local phone book and punch that into the TomTom and it takes us there. Addresses usually stay the same, but the name of businesses at that address change.

New home construction is where we have the biggest issue. Out house we live in right now is in such a new development, that it is not on the TomTom’s database. But, we just set “home” as a cross street about a mile away.

Again, if you want something simple, with no bells and whistles, for pretty cheap, get this unit.

We love it and will probably keep them until they die.

I loved it when I first got it but the touch screen stopped working after about 9 months of periodic use. I will replace it with a Garmin or Magellan which many people have recommended. Dont waste your money on this or if you do, buy an extended warranty.

Bought unit @ a brick and mortar and plugged it in immediately, it worked great, by the time I stepped through the tutorials (which you really don’t need to do, its pretty simple) it had found the map and I was able to run the rest of my errands with the unit running. When I got home I plugged it in to my laptop and installed tomtom home on it. It told me I needed to update my software when it was done I dismounted the unit and it went to a gray screen and said “No Maps Found!” Several attempts to reinstall the software on my computer and redownload updates didn’t work. I googled “No Maps Found!” and tomtom and apparently this is a known issue (going back 2 years!) with less than stellar reviews of tomtom tech support.

I used to have a larger TomTom with the wide screen…until someone broke my window and robbed my glove box! So I got this little one in order to carry it with me and leave nothing for the would be thief. It has basically all the same features with a smaller screen but I don’t miss it. I love that it is small enough to fit in my sweat pants pocket or my very small purse. I can whip it out while I’m walking downtown and know exactly where to find the store I’m looking for. I bought this with the carrying case to keep it protected…great combo purchase. This one even gets better reception than my old one. Only draw back is that it sometimes gives directions for the long way around but quickly adapts to the route I usually take. Once a friend of mine needed a ride to work and the TomTom gave a quicker route than she normally took. She bought her own that next week. I can’t live without mine.

Have you ever missed your turn, got off or on the wrong freeway/hwy ramp.?? Not with a TOMTOM, you can’t get lost. Just put in your destination information or a favorite place you want to visit and off you go. There are so many nice features on it. Such as saving favorite places, volume control, maps, screen brightness, different voices, gas stations and lots lots more. Charges while you drive or purchase a charger for home. You can plug it in your computer and go to TomTom and get Free updates, screens, voices and so much more. I just Love mine and am sorry I didn’t get one sooner. No more calling friends, jotting down directions, drawing little how to get there maps, or wrong information. I might sound like a sales person but I’m not. Just so happy I have one now.

I’ve been using the TomnTom ONE 125 for about a month now, and it has saved me a ton of time. Where I used to plan my routes for deliveries on-line, now I just punch it in to the TomTom from the driver’s seat, and away I go. Rural areas can be a bit off on the TomTom (fields where a street is, streets off by 100+ yards, addresses off by a 1/2 mile), but in the city, it’s almost dead on. The ease of use for making changes is great! I definitely recommend this for the first time user. If you are looking for affordable and easy, look no further.

This is the third TomTom I have bought as a gift from this site….obviously I have been pleased with the results of my purchases….good site, excellent service….excellent product

This is a decent GPS, but the time it takes to start up is way too long! Every time I turn this device on, it takes several seconds to get to the main screen (but this isn’t really the problem). Even worse, after turning it on…it takes the device literally about five minutes to find your location on it. Not good if you are lost in traffic somewhere and need to figure out where to go quick! However, it’s important to keep in mind that this is a pretty inexpensive device, and maybe the expectations should not be as high. I would suggest that if you buy this product, be sure to turn it on and enter your destination, etc. well before you actually start driving there.

I bought this TomTom GPS after my Garmin nuvii was stolen from the car. I liked it at first. I was easily able to put custom voices which I liked very much. My first problem with this GPS is Freeway avoidance doesn’t work. I’m in LA and you have to avoid freeways during certain times (like Friday afternoon). My old Garmin did a great job in taking me through the streets whenever I specify that option. TomTom just doesn’t do it. The feature is there, it just doesn’t work. It always gets you on the freeway no matter what. The second thing I was unhappy about is the whole GPS stopped working last week. It told me Waiting for GPS signal and it never got that signal. I left it on for hours outside in a clear view of the sky and it never picked up the signal again. Now I’m looking for its box to see warrany information and try to send it back for repair.

The unit died after I owned it for five months.

For five months it was a good product. I would have given it five stars had it not completely stopped working for no reason.

Simple to use and very helpful on road trips or when driving in a city.

I have purchased a number of TomTom products over the years. I have always loved the interface. Very easy and intuitive. I bought this recent one for my son. He was trying to get it setup and I said isn’t it already to go, no. Need to go on-line and download software etc…This worked fine in the end, but everything, including updates the the default maps are all extra fees. Feels a bit like bait and switch.

I think it will work good. I just gave it to my dad and he hasn’t used it, but we have one and it’s a great device

I wanted to like this, I really did. Small, portable, PC/Mac compatible. It’s simply too slow… Takes forever to acquire GPS signals, maps are sluggish, route recalculations are way too slow, especially when you miss a turn and need immediate assistance. Software is full-featured, but buggy.

Made a road trip to the East Coast and Tom Tom never failed me when I was around a city or looking for an address in rural New England. Great help!

The GPS is a fantastic tool and gift for my girlfriend that travels around the rural parts of illinois. She doesn’t call me to google her directions over the phone anymore!

The only drawback is that you need to allow 2-3 minutes after turning on the GPS so it can callibrate your position between where you were (when you turned off GPS) and where you currently are. Not a lot of time, but 2-3 minutes can mean a lot if you’re on the freeway trying to find your exit. Plug in with ample time!
