Good Starter Unit
The 130S is my first GPS system. It got me where I wanted to go but needed some coaxing. Updates may help. I found the unit refused to recognize legal left hand turns in several different situations. Twice it told me to go left while the arrow indicated I was to turn to the right. The dash mount is finicky. It will pop off unless you press hard while turning your mount lock.
Mostly Great!
As a person who has a pretty poor sense of direction, the TomTom has been pretty good. Not perfect. I recently took it along with me on a trip to Seattle. TomTom had me going in circles! I finally had to pull out the map. I’m sure I would have gotten even more lost without it, but don’t throw out your maps!

Tom Tom’s 130S GPS is easy to operate and update.The sound helps a lot when driving in heavy traffic. Software Tom Tom Home is perfect. Just the case is not so good (Tom Tom’s logo falled from the strap and got lost).
DEAD AS A DOORNAIL AFTER JUST 5 USES
I purchased this new as a Christmas gift to myself last December because I had to go into Chicago for my son’s Naval Basic Training graduation. However, the maps on other shorter trips around Iowa were frequently wrong…not recognizing major highways or sending me down dead end streets or the wrong way on a one way. And thye don’t tell you that you only get one text-to-speech voice for street names. It was garbled and tinny, I couldn’t understand it so after a couple more attempted uses, I stopped using it altogether. When I needed it to find an interview appointment in Grinell, IA four months later, the unit died at the halfway point and would not turn back on even though it was plugged into the car charger that came with the unit. When I got back home, I tried charging it on the home charger and it was still dead. And to add insult to injury, when I went to remove the car charger from my 12v outlet, the car charger literally fell apart in my hands. This is not a quality GPS unit at all, so don’t waste your money on it. (I see TomTom has refurbished a bunch of these, so buyer beware.)

We love this TomTom and this one must be the best value available.
We like the advantage over our old TomTom that this model speaks the name of the road you are about to turn onto making it easier to do the right thing the first time.
What a deal!!
This product was something I had been wanting for quite some time, but I really didn’t want to spend as much as they advertise in stores. When I saw the deal on here, I figured it was a prime opportunity to invest. I purchased it, it came promptly, and is awsome! Its so easy to use!!! As soon as I got it, I could plug it in my car – maps were already loaded – and then go! I get lost frequenty, so this is definately something that will help!! It’s great!!!

I am still trying to figure out how it really works. I tried using it and it got me lost plus is not mentioning the name of the streets like I read it would do.
Save an alternative route as favorite???
I would have given it a higher review but its driving me nuts that a) I can’t plan an itinerary using this model and b) I can’t figure out how or if I can save an alternative route as a favorite.

I bought my daughter this TomTom for Christmas (it’s one of three TomTom’s in our family) so I feel that she should write this review-
I’ve only had the need to use this GPS once since I got it for Christmas, but it worked very well. The voice, which announces actual street names, is a nice feature so that you don’t have to try to watch the screen while you’re driving down the road. Considering that my sense of direction is severely challenged, this GPS is great to have and easy to use.
NO REGRETS!!!
After reading several reviews, I found that almost everyone liked this GPS EXCEPT for the fact that the volume was low. On the contrary, the volume is exceptional; in fact, I actually find myself turning it down. This GPS is everything I was looking for; I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a inexpensive GPS.
The Right Way
Every since i purchased the TomTom 130S, navigating to the unknown was simplified. It’s easy to use and the voice is clear ans can be heard while listening to the radio. I reccomend this product to anyone that is on the road a lot traveling to different locations they aren’t familiar with
