Lost without my TomTom
The Tomtom XL 325 is fantastic for me personally. I can now get to anywhere I’m going. The screen size is quite clear but I tend to listen to the audio directions and keep my eyes on the road. It can take a minute to ‘fire up’ and calculate where you are but no more googling maps and then trying to remember the directions as I enter the knot of options on the city freeways. The world is my oyster now – no longer the panic of getting lost especially trying to find the freeway onramps in Houston. I recommed my Tomtom to anyone, I’ve had no problems at all with it and am literally lost without it.
Nice GPS, but TomTom customer service is bad, bad, bad
I’ve had this GPS unit for four months. Overall I like it — it’s sturdy and does a decent job with directions. I have only two complaints: (1) sometimes the map isn’t entirely accurate, and on two occasions it has taken me to the wrong address (both times it was a map issue and not operator error), and (2) TomTom customer support is really, really bad. I ordered an accessory and they promptly charged my card. Four months and 14 customer support emails later (including the last one where I threatened to submit a chargeback request), they finally delivered the accessory. I will likely throw away the unit before ever dealing with TomTom customer service again, and I expect that my next GPS will be a Garmin.

This Tom Tom GPS I purchased for my wife for Christmas has been great. At first she didn’t think she would use it, but before I knew it she had it attached to her laptop to update it. Then she got it installed in her car, and now she thinks it is great. When I have used it I find it very likeable and more accurate than the ‘Never Lost’ systems I have had in Hertz rental cars. I need to get myself one.
As awesome as my previous one! I love TomTom
This is a great GPS. I had another TomTom GPS that I bought a couple of years ago and it died. I don’t know what happened to it, but it just won’t turn on when I push the botton. It was a cheaper model, I think TomTom One is the model, and it served me well. I was a bit disappointed, but two years of good life isn’t so bad.
Beacause I am as lost as they come with directions, I needed a new GPS, like NOW! So I started doing some research, then I remembered that a friend of mine always buys the more expensive ones (on the $400+ range) and never really likes them. So I thought I should stick with something not very expensive, since I don’t really use it for anything fancy, just to get me from A to B, without driving for hours lost and panicking.
I was very used to the TomTom and how it works, so I decided to get another one just like the first one I had, which now sells for about $60. While I was looking, I came across this one and decided that I would give it a try. I am glad I did, I really love it!
If you have used a TomTom before, then you know how easy it is to use this. Just plug and go, very easy. The screen is larger than the previous one I had, and it also feels more sensitive to touch, which is nice. Here’s my take:
PROS
- Larger screen
- More sensitive screen
- Easy to use, no need to do anything but plug it in the car and start using
- Easy menus
- Easy to download additional features and update maps when plugged to the computer
- No need for a bracket on the windshield, it has the suction cup attached to it, so when you take it out, no one can tell whether you have a GPS or not (even if you put away your GPS, thieves can usually guess you have one if they see the bracket)
- Very easy to attach and remove unit from windshield!
CONS
Well, not really a con. But because I never read instructions manuals, it took me a few days to realize how easy it is to attach and remove the suction cup on the back of the unit. You just have to put the unit against the glass and rotate the round part behind the suction cup to the locked position.
All things considered, I am very happy with my new GPS. It is exactly an upgrade from the one I already loved.
It’s ok
I bought this product expecting it to work just like the smaller version. To my surprise, this xl version doesn’t work like the smaller version, this product takes longer to find the satellites. When i turn on this product, it usually takes about 40 seconds to find the satellites, when my smaller version of a tomtom used to take 8 seconds to find the satellites. Another thing i didn’t like is that i bought this product when it was 120 dollars new, and in two weeks Amazon was offering it for about 90 dollars!!
The gps works fine.. you need to play with the settings to make it easy to follow the roads. I think that all Garmin Gps have better graphics and are easier to use but TomTom gives a free map update and a cable to connect it to your computer.. and that’s just great. If Garmin was to give a map update and a cable connection for your computer, then i would choose Garmin anytime.
Serves it’s purpose well!
My Dad and I bought this GPS for my Mom for Christmas, since our family really dislikes Mapquest and she often needs directions to get various errands done. After reading the reviews, and knowing her needs in a GPS, we decided on this one. I myself have used it several times this past month while out looking for a car, and it has been a tremendous help!
It’s very easy to use, and I would highly recommend it for people who usually travel with a second person in the car. My reason being-it doesn’t speak the street names. You have to look at the screen to see the specific street name you are looking for, which, if you don’t have a “navigator” with you to do it for you, can be dangerous. If you look at the full list of directions beforehand, that may not pose a problem for you, however if you’re going on a long trip/going to an area you are totally unfamiliar with and will be making a lot of turns, you might want to consider a different GPS. That is the only thing I can see being a real issue with anyone. Other than that, it’s a great GPS for the price!
Good deal at 89.99 with free shipping
My first Navigation system. It has been handy and was surprised at how fast it picked up the satellites. Can be a bit hard to see in bright sunlight. Trying to find the sweet spot that it can best be mounted.
Seen others or same product in the <90.00 price range but with the fast and free shipping from Amazon was a no brainer to me. Prices seem to be dropping on this style of product so be a good shopper. I personally avoid Wallyworld and BB for many reasons.
If the price is 89.99 or less, put it in your check-out box. If more add to your Wish list.
Never get lost again
I love this! I was always getting lost till I bought this. It’s really easy to use. You just put in the address and you are on your way. All you have to do when you’ve gone to your destination and want to make your way home, is just push the “home” button and it leads you right home. I’m now a single woman and I feel safe driving with this. I used to cry when I got lost but I don’t anymore!
Tom Tom XL
This is the first Tom Tom we have owned. I bought this as a gift for my wife. I was used to the Garmin programming and it is taking a little time to figure out the differences in programming. The Tom Tom takes a little getting used to. I have to keep the owners manual in the glove box to figure out the options. I bought this on an Amazon close out. It is great for what I paid for the unit. I bought it for the larger screen than the Garmin Nuvi 200 series had for about the same cost. Everyone needs a GPS in the car incase you get lost and need to get somewhere new. Don’t leave home without it.

TonTom GPS loses it’s position and signal
I have been unable to effectively use this device. It often looses it’s signal but more importantly it looses it’s position. It doesn’t know where it is which makes it useless.
great unit with lots of support
I bought four of these for Christmas presents for 25-30 yr olds. Two of the 4 found some great free online resources. One of the units quit working, but Amazon replaced it. The replacement started having issues when used with Windows 7, tech support was helpful and efficient in getting it back up and running with a fix for the incompatibility problem.
One went to my daughter and son in law who had to use it in a snow storm white out to see where the road was, they passed many who were off the road into the ditch while they were able to ’see’ where the road went. They actually put it on the dash in front of the driver’s face and drove as in a video game. (They never would have done this if they could have gotten off the road, but they were many miles from an exit of any kind and waiting to be run into seemed even more foolhearty) it seems the GPS saved their lives.
One unit was used in Vegas to navigate one way streets and find gas stations and grocery stores. I love that you can tell what you want to find and it tells you how close it is.
The best feature for one of the recipients is the speed limit sign that flashes when you are speeding, if you have a lead foot this can save you a speeding ticket.
I bought these for the kids because I love my Garmin and the TomTom’s were on sale. I keep wishing I had bought one for myself and given the Garmin to my husband!
Great value!
This is my first GPS and now I don’t know what I ever did without it. The user interface is very intuitive, and it hasn’t let me down yet. You can spend lots more, but WHY?

Couldn’t be more pleased with this GPS. Good price, great screen size and very easy to use and setup right out of the box. Used it on an out of state trip and was really easy to program. Love the option of having the British woman voice speaking directions.
Love my tomtom
I love my tomtom. I was easy to set up & use.It redirects me if I make a wrong turn , with the annoying “recalculating”. Downloading voices was easy. Update to the latest maps was also a breeze.
Best GPS for the price!
This is a really nice GPS that you can customize to your liking. For $89, you really cant beat that. I highly recommend this product. By the way, this is the second one I purchased, this one was a gift.

GPS Tom Tom XL
We use this product a lot, but have some experience with an older GPS. I am glad to see that the price of such devices have gone down subtantially. We have not explored the new GPS interface throughly, but we do like the fact that it shows more details on the map (gas stations, etc.) when we are moving through an unknown area. It is much easier to follow than our old one (color format, verbald directions, etc.), and you can load different voices on it from their website.
my kingdom for a longer charge
based on pricing and speed of delivery, i’m quite satisfied with this GPS. however, i’ve run into a lot of trouble with the lasting power of the battery charge. it’s brief. very brief. and all too often, i find my unit shuts off moments after i set it and head for my destination. this makes for difficult travel.
Tom Tom
We love this product! Don’t know how my husband and I ever got along without it. Saves so much time, gas, and eliminates driving errors! No reason for disagreements in the car when traveling in unfamiliar areas. I think it can save a marriage! (giggles) You know how men won’t ask for directions when on a road trip! This was so worth the purchase. 2 Thumbs up! No one should leave their driveway without one!
Easy to install, the directions are clear, very user friendly, and trips are simple to program. Screen is clear and detailed. This would be an excellent gift choice. We are so happy to have made this purchase. We give this product an A+!
