So far so good. We bought this item to drive home from Florida. It navigated us around all major cities which was great. It did however, lock up a few times and had to be completely reset. That was a bit of a frustration. All in all, it gets me to my destinations and recalculates well when I take different turns.
I just want to comment on Tom Toms customer support team. I had some problems getting my 30 day free map update guarantee to download into my unit and they stepped right in and made sure that I was able to get it. They answered my email messages in a very timely manner and really seemed concerned about my problem.They were great.I will be sure to recommend Tom Tom to all my friends.
I am a Tom-Tom fan…so pretty easy to please with a Tom-Tom. The only issues are that you cannot store enough addresses and there is a bit of a lag between touching the screen and it registering that you touched it. You have to be careful not to get impatient and touch it twice as it will advance past the point you want.
Right out of the box, the GPS worked great. It is easy and very intuitive to use, but I have had a few instances where the pre-loaded maps were very out-of-date. The cost of buying a new set is prohibitive, this seems like a business model comparable to inkjet printers – buy cheap hardware and get dinged on updated software. Still, it is accurate enough to work with.
Screen legibility is perfect, the touchscreen accurate, and voice instructions are correct and not too frequent. The mount is very practical in that it is easy to detach, leaving no trace of a portable GPS to would-be thieves. The battery has a virtually non-existent life, so that you cannot program an address and then move the unit to your car. The programming always has to happen with the GPS plugged in.
Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase, as this GPS does what I need it to do. More current maps would be a bonus…
It’s pretty hard to find in GPS specification how many POI are included. So I have called customer support. They told me that I have to download a software, then from the software I have the choice of 7 millions POI but I can choose only 96 to be transfer to the GPS.
I asked many time customer support if they are certain of this and confirmed 5 times.
Magellan often come with 6 millions, to compare with 96. TomTom not for me. Best case scenario is that TomTom can have more than 96 POI but they have bad customer support.
As you may have found from other reviews Tomtom does not provide updated maps with there own refurbished product. Why? I don’t know. Even without an updated set of maps though you should expect the current set to include information on a hotel in Phoenix that has been there since 1929 but my tomtom did not and could not even locate the damn thing once I found the physical address on google which sort of defeats having a tomtom in the first place. My recommendation Get a Garmin this product is useless
This GPS unit replaced a Garmin that took a dive into a lake. Former unit was a Garmin and is still missed but this new unit just took some getting used to – it serves its purpose. Fast shipping, excellent price and loaded map is very accurate.

I’ve just started a job that takes me to elementary schools all over about a 100 mile radius. Each day I head out to a new place & now know I don’t have to worry about getting lost, thanks to Samantha (sometimes you have to name a voice you spend that much time with). It is the first electronic device that I ever just popped out of the box & started to use on my own without reading the book or having someone show me how. Embarrassing, sure, but it shows how simple it is to use. At any rate, I’m a big fan.
I purchased a TomTom XL 330S for my husband for Christmas. He is terrible with directions and relied on MapQuest directions, or a phone call to me, to get anywhere new! He absolutely loves the TomTom. He just puts in the address where he wants to go, and it directs the way. No more getting lost, no more stopping to ask for directions, no more turning around and backtracking to find missed streets, and no more printed directions to try to follow while driving. It is definitely an item that would be replaced if anything ever happened to it. Now that he has used it, he can’t be without one. Well worth the money.
The items was shipped with a 12 volt defective power cord! I had to purchased a new one at walmart. Also the item was advertised as new and it was not! Needs updates and this will cost more than the product itself! What a scam!

I took a chance on a Like new from Amazon.com and found the Tomtom 330s is all that. I have had mine for thirty days now I have been very happy with it. Right after I receive it the day after I used it for the first time the screen went out. I returned it thru Amazon.com and I received a new one within twenty four hours (that is impressive) I have had no problems the new one except on one occasion the final destination was wrong (I could see it on the other side of street) Easy to program, Tomtom web site is easy to down load from. Very happy with Tomtom and Amazon.
Overall, the XL 330 is a basic model and appears to be well built. A this was my first GPS, I did a fair bit of research, and looked at a few models in a retail store, before actually making this purchase.
On the positive side, I found setup very easy and straightforward, right from the screen (dispensing with the need for the paper manual that accompanied the unit). I purchased this particular model because of the price and availability of maps in Brazil (in addition to North America, Europe, etc).
Driving in some parts of the world (especially in urban areas) tends to be rather hectic, in particular for lack of signage and advance warnings, be it in the city or on highways. It has been a real help not having to strain for addresses, street signs and unusual, last-minute turns–a real reduction in stress!
Nonetheless, two small issues:
1) I found the clip on the suction cup support a bit weak, and have had the unit slip off on occasion. Considering the rough roads around here, I am a bit leary of the unit falling off (though that has not yet happened).
2) Had I been alerted to it, I likely would have paid a bit more for a model with bluetooth and a bit more memory. The onboard memory is sufficient for only one map set at a time. (Can’t, for example load in memory a map set for North America and some other country as well.)

There were no scratches or blemishes. The device works perfectly. I got free shipping and it was delivered two days after I ordered it. I am very pleased with my purchase. It is exactly as advertised and the price was right.
I had issues doing a map upgrade on Windows 7 OS and TomTom support was pretty dumb. They wouldn’t help at all, only replied back and said “if you’re still having issues call us”, well if I’m writing you then I’m having issues. They never replied back with help. The one time they did it was everything that I was already doing. They left it up to me to resolve. Which I did by switching to an XP OS…

yards=feet
The device says “yards” whenever”feet” would be appropriate. Tom Tom was not a great help when I called them.

Accurate and easy to follow directions while driving. The large screen is easy to see and makes it easy to input your destination.

The GPS in question works fine. The only complaint is the battery life. It is less than two hours. One must keep it plugged in a car at all times.
