The Power of Excellence
The TomTom GPS’ are my life savers! they save me on every trip i go on. This screen is crystal clear and hugee. They’ve really upped the anti on this one; unlike most other GPS’ this tells you where to turn before hand. It wont signal you within 20 feet of the actual turn. It picks up signals quick too, so it will reroute you fast within a second or two. Code NLENS on the electronics-exop site knocks it down to $96.67 instead of $111.
love my Tom-Tom
I love the Tom-Tom. The only thing that could be improved is the screen for the letters. The keys are very small, and even tho I’m a woman, it’s hard to press the right key in order to tell it an address. I also need to find a hard case for carrying.
Best GPS
I was in Europe for business and the taxi drivers all seem to use TOM TOM GPS systems. When asked they seemed to find it the best. I purchased the XL340 and as far as a GPS is concerned you couldn’t ask for a better system. You can get updates and POIs from the TOM TOM Home web site and the directions that the unit gives are as clear as can be. Would buy again.
If you don’t know any better avoid buying this product
I think this is a good product, but they don’t choose most of the time the best route,
and if you decide to take a short cut, they should adjourn themselves to the final
destination, instead of over and over and over wanting to return to the point that
you left. This is a no no way to return where you already crossed over. At this
moment I would not suggest this product. Magellano is a better product.
Better routes than Garmin 255WT
The IQ Routes provides much better routing than my Garmin 255WT, even though the Garmin has traffic data.
The Garmin uses speed limits on the map and adjusts for traffic, but the traffic updates are not fast enough and some roads don’t report traffic congestion.
The TomTom uses IQ Routes which uses real-world driving data based on the time of day to calculate the routes. Much better in the Washington D.C. area.

This unit has everything I need. Screen is bright and clear. Voice very clear. A bit slow rerouting, but not severe.
I would recommend to anyone.
Like having a chauffeur!
We travel a lot. And we joke about the 180 degree rule….that is to say; If we think we should turn right, it’s best if we turn left, because we usually have it wrong. But not with this thing. In the short time we’ve owned it we’ve marveled at it’s accuracy. Amazing!
And, if you miss a turn it quickly recalculates the route for you so you don’t need to perform life threatening traffic moves. Buy it.

This item was a gift and I haven’t received feedback from the recipient yet. I can say, however, that the item arrived in great condition and in a very timely manner.
This GPS is great
I tryed it last 14 days on my trip to Florida and in all the big cities works perfectly, although some newest or recently constructed intersections were not in (maps updated 14 days ago). It speaks and shows everything clearly and user friendly. Also points of interest are great and contains a thousands of them.
Makes Mom Happy
I purchased this as a Christmas gift for Mom. She found it easy to enter addresses and also to use. She upgraded from a 4 year old lower end GPS and has had nothing but good things to say about it. This says a lot as she loves electronic gadgets and spends a fair amount of time exploring all the features. When they are not easy to use, she can be fairly critical.
Excellent Product
Big screen, download updates simply only wish is called out street name when turn is near instead of “turn in 200 feet”. Excellant directions and a great value for the price.

Does an excellent job. When you log into the TomTom site be sure to use the site to make a backup before doing anything else. It is possible to do damage before you figure out how to correctly use the site.
Works great for me.
Used the Tom Tom on a trip from Montana to Arizona and it was terrific. Even found the great micro brewery in Flagstaff we were looking for. It is my first GPS device and I find it easy to use and very enjoyable. I like that you can pick a voice so that you don’t have to live with one you find irritating. Great product.
Does a good job – mostly
So far I have always insisted that I don’t need a navigation system, I can read maps. I finally broke down and bought myself this little unit because I was planning a long drive into “unknown territory” and knew I was probably going to be arriving in the dark, which makes map reading rather difficult. The Tom Tom is easy to use and got me where I wanted. The only glitch I found was in Orlando, where the friendly voice once sent me on a wrong way. Other than that though, it works beautifully.
Tom Tom XL 340
The Tom Tom 340 is the first GPS Navagator I have ever purchased so I have nothing to compare it to. I am 68 years old and for my money you can’t beat it.
This product is so easy to use and gives you directions far enough in advance so you can get in the right lane to make a turn. I am sorry I did not buy one a long time ago.I recommend this product.
Better than Garmin
Before this GPS I had TomTom software installed on a pocket PC. It worked just fine, just about 1-3 wrong directions over 10k miles of driving. Then I purchased Garmin 760. It was impossible to navigate with it. The first time I used it, I was driving across the US. I had 7 (!) wrong directions over 2k miles. I used other Garmin GPS which I took from a friend of mine and it acted exactly the same. I guess the software for Garmin is written poorly: written directions do not match voice directions, the name of the road like “Blah-blah Hwy” do not match the road descriptions on the traffic signs “Rd. #something”, wrong directions when two exits follow each other (correct exit appear either too later or don’t appear at all). I got rid of these problems when I got TomTom again. The appearance of the mistakes was again few/10k.
What comes to TomTom 340, I did not have any problems installing it on a windshield as many people complained about. I didn’t take the mount off, so maybe this problem appear if you do that often. What I didn’t like is that the electrical cord connects directly to GPS rather than the mount. That’s annoying when you take off and plug in the GPS on the mount. Other than that the GPS wrked fine. Particularly, I loved that it shows which lines to take at the exit – it really helped me couple of times at a complicated intersection when several exits follow each other.
So easy a caveman could use it….
Being a “techno-geek” I got the TomTom up and running in about 10
minutes. Then I read the manual.
My wife being non-technical whatsoever, has no trouble programming
and using it. 5-10 minutes of instruction and she could do just about
anything she wants with the GPS. Can’t get any easier. I may need to
buy another one so we don’t have to share it between cars.
TomTom Review
I got a Vizio? GPS system before this one and had no idea how to work it. This TomTom came with installation instructions, mapping instructions and other wonderful guides to make everything fast and simple my first time out with it.
Couldn’t find/keep signal & difficult interface
Bought this for my gf cuz it was a STEAL b4 Christmas and Tom-Tom is a respected name in GPS. She was very excited to use it but unfortunately she ran into several issues. Unplugging the charger from the back of the unit is very difficult. I could do it, but she wouldn’t for risk of breaking a nail or hurting her finger. It is pretty tough to remove. After only a couple uses, she couldn’t get the unit to find a signal…for over an hour! When it did work, it alerted her too late to make the proper turns. And the worst part was she hated the interface. She just had too much trouble with it. I’m sure if she spent enough time with it, she coulda figured everything out, but the Garmin I bought her to replace it has been a dream. Easy to use, more features…but it was $40 more, too. Worth every penny. The Tom-Tom was returned.
